Great location, walkable everywhere. When we arrived the service was awesome, not as much in the morning. The room size was great but the bedding was not the most comfortable.

If you come to stay, come for the history of the establishment. You will find plenty of that here. You will also find a very kind and courteous staff that will go out of their way to make you stay pleasant and enjoyable. While the Hotel was built from a historic Department Store this did take place in the 1980's. The hotel, while clean and comfortable, may not meet the tastes of someone that expects the latest in furnishings, gadgets, and room style. It is not disappointing once you arrive, but just understand that you should enjoy this location for its antiquated ambience. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and activities within walking distance so you can enjoy a visit without ever having to leave in your vehicle. Had a delicous lunch at the connect french restaurant Isa's Bristro

We stayed overnight for a quick trip to Asheville. The hotel and area are cool. The room is HUGE! The bed is comfy but the walls are so thin we could hear late night activities in the alley outside of our room. We would recommend and would stay again but maybe bring some ear plugs or request a room that is not on a lower level with an alley view.
