My father and I stayed here for 4 nights and we had an incredible stay! We stayed in the king suite which had a fully separate bedroom. I slept on the couch (did not pull it out) and slept great. This was the largest hotel room I have stayed in. The double sinks in the bathroom was such a plus. The staff was very kind and helpful - we loved our valets . The history of the building is really cool and added to the experience. This is a great place if you want to stay right in the heart of Asheville - would definitely stay here again!

The only thing I found that had plenty of room to improve was the males who worked behind desk at night and day could stand to be taught some customer service skills. Not very friendly and I might even say rude... valet was more courteous. At such a great higher end place you expect much better service. Both times we visited everything else was great.

Location in the center of restaurant and tourist area of Asheville. Very walkable, and easy drive from attentive valets to attractions. Main building themed based on the department store it once was. Very large rooms available. Front desk star staff not always available, but also not really needed due to great location.

If you read all the literature on the walls inside this hotel you will learn quite a bit about its history. The elevator still announces which departments are on the flood when you get off the elevator.
